DF 2010 Let's Play (Reloaded with full Video!)
« on: April 09, 2010, 06:24:39 pm »

Hey there all you Bay 12 types. Since 2010 came out I've been doing a let's play of the game over in the Voltron Army forums.

Linky

Seeing as how I have nearly 70 dwarves, and only a spattering of named ones, I figured I'd toss up a link here, and let people discuss the game I have going and have themselves dwarfed if they wish.

quick recap:
We started out in a rocky wasteland, dug straight down into a mountainside, hit aquifier, struggled a bit, found a way around it, got to the first cavern and set up shop. Did alot of stuff, dug down further into the 2nd cavern for much needed wood and plants, while fending off a horde of trogs with our bare hands and broken fingers. Now, we are moving into our third year, with only the dwarven caravan and some brave camels showing up from outside. I plan to have a great fortress, with large impressive rooms, high value, and nobles of all sorts. Then, I will end the fort when I can either survive the HFS, or die trying.

Come join us in Grease the Depths of Playing.

[a note about the Voltron Army forums: it is a community of Let's players from youtube joining together to do things, you shouldn't have to register to view the LP there unless you wish to, and if you want a dwarf, feel free to post here, I'll get you in the game before too long.]

Don't expect a bonsai tree to grow the miniature planting it.
Trust your calculator. It's something to count on.
Pencils could be made with erasers at both ends, but what would be the point?

I'll be easy to dwarf. So...
Give me a (migrant?) dwarf named Urist, give him the Siege Engineering and food hauling labors and nothing else, and give him "Siegebreaker" as a profession.

hmm, I can give you a dwarf, but your choices on labors is basically taking a dwarf out of use for my fort. You'll spend a lot of time standing around doing nothing, and I prefer that my dwarves work if possible. We shall see how it goes. :)

Just updated to the bugfix release, as well as a cleaner and easier to view mayday tileset

Hmm.
Dunno how you do it, but I want a superdwarvenly strong and incredibly agile peasant with the profession "Legendary Peasant" or "Legendary Hauler"
20 HPS (Hauls-Per-Step) hell yeah.

Can I have a dwarf, preferably a miner, named  "Simon the Digger"?

Well, you know how if you take your thumb and forefinger and hold them up to your eye, you can make it look like you're squishing someone's head? It's like that, only for real.

Well the stats arn't quite the same as old versions, and a hauler isn't going to become strong and agile. I can however assign you a dwarf with only hauling jobs.

Can I have a dwarf, preferably a miner, named  "Simon the Digger"?

This however will be much harder, I have three miners, and very little picks. It may be quite some time before I can put you in, but if your willing to wait, I'll add you to the to-be-dwarfed list.

I have returned, and taking this screenshot LP to youtube for some recording. Not the best quality, but should be fun.

Taking dwarf requests there most likely, as I don't check here as often these days.
