Ladders

Here's an idea that I expected to have come up before, especially given the effects rewalling will have on sieges: portable ladders.

They could be carried around by dwarves (or goblins) who wish to move up or down a z-level without stairs or a ramp.  They'd stay there until somebody comes along and picks them up, and specific "put it away" requests might be available to prevent them being left in vulnerable places such as against exterior walls.

If a dwarf gets stuck down a level, they could broadcast a "need a ladder" job, which could be responded to by another who could bring one.

Good one. Seconded! It would have saved a lot of very stupid dwarves...

Actually, I was gonna suggest this earlier, but I thought no one would listen. Curses!    :D

Sounds good to me, I could see it being used in sieges. Some way to tip/remove your enemies' ladders would be nice too.

Goblin cancels Scale Ladder: falling helplessly.
