No Auto-Save
« on: April 02, 2010, 05:16:04 pm »

Anyway I can re-enable autosaving on a monthly basis? Everything I'd done since I started my third reclaim just vanished in an instant. I'm really angry now, as I've been fihting this new version all day over the military screen. I'm just exausted, mentally.

Nice one, not sure when I'll be feeling like killing a baby but these things are good to know.
This is why we can't have nice things... someone will just wind up filling it with corpses.
Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife — chopping off what's incomplete and saying: "Now it's complete because it's ended here."

go to your init file (data>init>init.txt)

find the line labeled AUTOSAVE:NO and change NO to SEASONAL

Init.txt inside of data/init

Use these to control the automatic saving behavior in the dwarf fortress mode of game.  AUTOSAVE can be set to NONE, SEASONAL or YEARLY.  This updates your save at these intervals, so that some of your progress will be saved in case of system instability.  You can set AUTOBACKUP to YES if you want the updated save to be copied to another folder so that you'll have several copies of your world at different times.  Set AUTOSAVE_PAUSE to YES if you want the game to pause every time it autosaves.

[AUTOSAVE:SEASONAL]
[AUTOBACKUP:NO]
[AUTOSAVE_PAUSE:NO]

Set it to whatever settings

EDIT: Yeah, that. It's not a monthly basis but it's the smallest interval available.
