Nope, sorry mate.  Weather is weather.  You can have some impact on the climate, what with worldgen settings (and I'm fairly certain there was an actual editor around someplace...).

If you could enlighten us as to the nature of your tests, there might be another way of achieving what you're looking for.

Sorry, but I don't think there is any way to make rain in an existing fortress. And rainwater is unreliable for drinking, I always try to embark somewhere with a river or brook.

If it does start raining however, then you can trap it by turning weather off in the init file.  Turning it off while there's an active weather effect on your map will cause that effect to continue until you turn it back on again.

Well, i turn Weather to NO in the init files (because, there is init, init MAX, init MED, init MIN and init MIX) when its raining, and after some time (usualy 2 mins) it stops.
Am i doing something wrong?

Wait, what version are you running?  There should just be (DF)/data/init/init.txt, unless more got added with the Dxx releases.

If I'm reading all of that correctly, he's running Mayday's graphics pack. Init Min, Med, Max. At least that's how mine is/was set up.

As for the original problem, I have no idea. I didn't know turning off weather would freeze that weather effect. That's actually awesome as hell, because it could make for some interesting slow drowning chambers.

Well, the only thing I can think of was that you did it while still playing the game.  Since the init.txt is only read when the game starts up, you need to follow these steps:

1. Wait until it starts raining.
2. Save the game.
3. Exit Dwarf Fortress
4. Change the init file
5. Restart Dwarf Fortress and load your saved game.

Et voilą!  Permanent rain (until you reverse the process).

Since I'm not familiar with Mayday's pack, I can't give any help in regards to the multiple init files.  Sorry.

YAY! IT WORKED!!!
Thanks a lot guys!, so, now we all know, if u have the mayday pack, disabling weather in the init (yes, just init) file, keeps the current weather!
