I got an artifact cave spider silk sock this morning. It's worth 5,720 dwarfbucks, and it doesn't menace with spikes of anything.

Dwarfs don't have issues.  Dwarfs merely have inspiration for the legendary artifact they will one day make.

Considering the general state of DF, I think Einstein and Newton are already rotating fast enough that you could hook them up to pumps and use them to kill Elves.

Not so much strange as awesome.

The Tenacious picks.
I knew that was going to be a great fort before i even embarked.

Not the greatest fort in the world.  Just a tribute.

No, its realistic.

I dont think realism is a major concern in a game about alcoholic midgets fighting dragons and soapmen.

^ lulz.

Anyway, I tend to get silly ones like 'The Cloistering of Abbeys' and 'Cloisterabbey the Ace of Beard'. My RNG has an obsession with cloister apparently.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

My last attempted excursion was a terrifying display of the random name generator... specifically, the group name "The Dark Basement" and the fortress name "Incestrape". Uh, yeah. I just went ahead and abandoned the fortress and deleted that world...

So, I tediously awaited the arrival of the dwarven caravan (I'm set up on a island, see)... And, they came. My fingers tingled, my nose twitched and my toes tickled... they came around the corner, over my bridge... Into my courtyard... Onto my trade depot...

Then everything near it exploded in a cloud of blood.

Beats my RNG.  It's utterly obsessed with paint, clasps, and paddles.  It's like my computer is secretly the planner of a frat house initiation ceremony or something.

My own civ isn't too interesting, but the goblins that pepper my mountain range always have some interesting group names.

Just look at what one of my elites has as an enemies list:

I really love "Frilly Poison" and "The Wickedness of Boring".

Personally, I like [DF] because after climbing the damned learning cliff, I'm too elitist to consider not liking it.
