World Generation Controls
« on: February 29, 2008, 11:21:00 am »

I'd like to fine tune world generation.  Lately, I haven't generated that many evil mountains, but want to overcome them.

I propose an options on the world gen screen (or in the init file) to set weights which help shape the world.  I see two axis:

  • Morality -- is the world more inclined towards good or evil.
  • Fervor -- how intensely is it expressed.

A high fervor + mid morality would have lots of good and evil places.  A low fervor + evil morality would have a few moral oasis, and most would be wicked.  These could be used at the start of generation, or bias how well good and evil sites influence their surrounding.

Another control could adjust how much tectonic activity the world has.

My understanding of world gen, amount of forests and climate are derived from the landscape so wouldn't be affected.
