Combat Engineers

Maybe when armies come out, I think something like this could finally make sieges interesting. I would imagine after a couple of massive failed sieges, the Goblins would eventually send trained engineers to that could do all sorts of things like:

Remove the mechanisms from bridges so they cant be lowered
Disable traps
Cut down trees to make battering rams, ladders, and siege engines
Use ropes and ladders to make walls scaleable
Construct pontoon bridges
Dig through walls

Of course, their numbers would be few, and they would be burdened with equipment-easy to kill, but you would need an military for that. My idea is that you should never feel totally comfortable when a siege comes, even with a massive carpet of traps.

Goblin sappers, yes.

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

Id like to see goblins driving goblin runts and animals ahead of them to bung up all your traps so the real soldiers can just walk right in

the only "real" soldiers in the goblin armies are the humans that they bring with them.  As far as I see it, all goblins are fodder.
