Right. It's also using ARB_texture_buffer_object, which is actually a DX10 feature (..even in opengl, I find it handy to talk about DX levels. ???), which I find somewhat amusing.

I mean, think about it. Here's an ascii game. Requiring a DX10 card for best performance.

No yet. It can't render yet, I'm still just showing the raw data on-screen. :P

http://brage.info/~svein/df.png <-- Progress is occurring, though this still needs a recompile before I can get out of the main menu.

(Incomplete, as yet) shader code to the left, CPU meter at bottom right. I assure you, 5% cpu use is very good for this laptop.

That picture has a reference to it in itself.

This reminds me of an artifact. On the artifact is an image of the artifact in LCD.

are you having fun yet?  ;D

this is sounding delicious :P do we have any predictions on how much this could boost performance ingame?
As i understand, this does some things that were being done by this other thing, that now isnt doing those things and can focus on doing pathfinding for dwarves, cats and flowing magma, right?

Oh yes, definitely fun. With some Fun mixed in.

FPS increase? Yeah, I think we're looking at a few more FPS, depending. I've gone from 12% to 3% CPU use at the main menu, but that's one an 800MHz (speedstep'd) cpu.

I'm confused, will this be in 40d20(21?) or is this some theoretical testing for the far future?

Also, will there be DX11 support for when the 480 comes out? Or if we are stepping away from CUDA, the ATI 5000's?

CUDA is not being used. I'm using only DX10-level features, but note that it doesn't actually /use/ DX10, just the opengl equivalents.

Any GPU that could potentially run DX10 should run this. Yes, that includes radeons. I'm not sure about intels.

And it'll be in 40d19, I think. Whenever.

Available in 40d18-head now, though graphical tilesets are not yet supported. Have fun!
