Iquob Nohusabe vs The Last Olm Man
« on: July 09, 2010, 12:28:03 am »

Onto the map shuffled something horrible: A great beakless wren with a broad shell and deadly spittle. As it surged forth, it was met by countless hordes of olm men. Now, this had happened before. A great Jay with twitching antenna depopulated a higher cavern of Olm Men, and a writhing copper-scaled worm with wings of stretched skin had fought with the olm men of this very cavern, though he had left most intact in favor of combating my dwarves. The wren, Iquob Nohusabe, was different. It stayed low, fighting olm men. Many olm men died, as is their habit. But one yet lives. For many seasons now, Iquob has done battle with a lone unnamed olm man. Iquob has received twenty-six full pages of scars, most from this single wrestler.

On the wounds display, he is near solid red. His lungs are both cyan, and his shell is white. One eye is cyan, the other yellow. His throat and right eyelid are brown.

He has been in roughly this state for years, kept this way eternally by a single olm man.

And he's in 7/7 water, so I can't affect them easily.

I don't think he'll die. Those wounds are all on Iquob, all the Olm Man has is a yellow wound on his leg.

Dump magma onto the tile so you can preserve them for all eternity in Obsidian.  Bonus points if you also engrave it.

This fortress is turning into some kind of supervillain lair or something.
You do remember that you've been farming gigantic wingless dragon-fish for profit and Fun, right?

I came here to say this.

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.

Update: Another Forgotten Beast has come. His name is Tofi, and he's a big red lizard with two tails. He is also fighting the Olm Man. So far, Tofi has not proven successful in wounding the Olm Man. Tofi has received numerous yellow wounds, and all signe indicate that he, like Iquob, will spend eternity getting the shit beat out of him in the bowels of the earth by a lone Olm Man.

I'm not really sure what to make of this.

The next update will have cumulative damage effects, which will probably insta-gib both of them.  8)

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.
