graphics set stops working

I have not changed any settings, installed a new version of something or generally messed with anything, but when I generated a new world for a new fortress and embarked on my journey, the graphics set I've been playing with (mayday) stopped working.
What I mean is that, although all the graphics settings from init.txt (resolution, custom font) are being obeyed, none of the creature graphics from \raw\graphics are in use - all the creatures are showing up with their corpse graphics from the font. I've loaded other forts but the problem isn't somehow fort-specific. Wah, what's happening?!

Have you tried reinstalling the Mayday pack?

If you want me or someone to take a look, please zip up your entire DF folder (without saves, to keep the file size down) and post the file on the DF File Depot.

Well that was dumb. DL'ed mayday's package again, started comparing, and in the existing setup I had the raw directory inside the data directory, where it does not belong. Sigh. The miracles of click & drag...
