Logging combat in fortress mode?
« on: February 19, 2010, 07:27:36 pm »

I have friends that I am naming dorfs after, and writing up the combat and goings on as AARs (After Action Reports.) Is there a way to log the injuries in combat so that a skirmish doesn't take me nearly three hours to play through, stopping every 5 or 10 ticks and checking everyone for wounds?

Someone in IRC mentioned Dwarf Companion, but on reading up on it, couldn't see where it would log combats.

thanks!

Yep, though I wish there was a utility to get it now. There used to be for one of the older 40d versions I think, but not 40d16 or 40d17.

DwarfCompanion can do that, I think, but you have to be using 40d. None of the later versions are compatible, Toady changed the memory layout or something.

I can't wait to be spammed by messages! Urist McWrestler grabs Goblin McLasher by the fourth finger, left hand with his second toe, right foot.

Goblin McLasher breaks the hold of Urist McWrestlers fourth finger, left hand from his second toe, right foot!

Urist McWrestler punches Goblin McLasher in the body with his right hand.
The shot glances away.

I think there will be a screen where the messages will be stored. An icon will appear when new messages are made.

Yeah, it's on a different announcement screen. Which is another improvement on the current utilities, I believe.

Guys, you're just making me even more excited for the next release.  :-\

Once it comes out, the long wait will be worth it.
