Need help on creature tag
« on: February 18, 2010, 04:14:49 am »

Hi,

I would like to add a tag on some creatures to have them roam randomly over all the map.

But not:

- head directly toward the dorfs as soon as they arrive
- stay in an area, patrolling it only

basically, does it exists a tag where a creature can potentially reach the fort at some point while roaming randomly? It also has to switch to 'attack' when close enough to any target, sure :)

Bonus question, how can I be sure that each creature (of 2 species) don't attack each other? Only dorfs should be food, not ratmen vs antmen etc. thing.

Bonus answer: any [NATURAL] creatures (animals) do not attack each other at all. And wild creatures attack civ creatures only.

The token you're looking for is [MEANDERER].

sweet, thanks!

Where can I find the explanation of tokens?  There is quite a list, is it only by lore transmission from one modder to another?

UTTERANCES e.g

edit:
I found that the Raw Files Editor from Ragnarok has such a file... I wonder where he got it, but anyway it is a great helper!

Ok, then:
Creature tokens - all creature tokens, to define its behaviour, look and abilities.
Entity tokens - all entity tokens, to setup a civilization type you want.
Biome tokens - useful to determine where creatures spawn/live.
Spheres - useful to properly setup religion sphere and sphere relation tokens for creatures and civilizations.

For other modding things:
Material tokens - base types of materials (such as STONE, WOOD etc.), used to specify for example what material an item/creature is made of.
Matgloss tokens - specific types of base material types (such as MALACHITE, OBSIDIAN for stones; OAK, PINE for wood etc.) with properties.

Color - foreground/background colors for DF and the numbers in [COLOR:X:Y:Z] token which define them (X = foreground color; Y = background color; Z = brightness (0/1)).

I am pretty sure there're other useful pages, but I hope these are enough for the beginning.
