An India sculptor has crafted an *Granite Instrument*, which works!

It gets better:
Quote
Chinnakkannu told the BBC that he was inspired to make the instrument by his admiration of temple art and religious sculptures across Tamil Nadu.
Fey Mood? He also searched for One Specific Rock and basically spent most of his time for a good three months working on the thing. Now it needs a name.

IIRC Gibson or Fender made a granite electric guitar while they were researching materials and their effect on sustain.

e: can't find any history on the original, but it looks like someone's currently producing some :o
