Windmill's can't be built on structures anymore?
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:38:17 am »

I was just wondering when you stopped being able to build windmills on walls (ala stilts) even when you fill all but the middle of the wall square.
I'm in 40d16 and this is the first time I've tried that since some older version...

If there's an issue, place a gear under where the center would be, then it is considered stable.  When it is in midair like that, game considers it hanging, and bad things happen to machinery with no support!  Also, do not make that gear the disengage gear, or it will decon.

I'd do that, but I don't think dwarves have words for "fair" or "logical".

Ah okay I'll give that a shot, I had only one gear dissenage and my axel and windmil deconed... thought it was cause the decon gear was attached to a magma pump and it was some weird temperature effect... good to know ... now maybe I can keep my windmill from falling apart
