Reveal Utility
« on: February 10, 2010, 09:52:14 am »

Hello,

I've started using the Reveal utility to scout out embark areas. The tool is great and helps making a decision a sure thing rather a best guess chance.

However, I was wondering if any other users of the utility know how to remove the rectangular areas marked out on the tiles. Is there a function with the tool to turn the areas on and off? As useful as the tool is, I'd like to see completed projects without the distracting bright areas.

Thank you for your time.

As I know, there is no way to hide the revealed area.

Embark, save, reveal, see if you like it, kill the process (or otherwise quit without saving), load up the save.

You know if the embark area is what you like, but nothing left revealed (this also prevents certain bugs... such as not being able to build magma workshops).

Yeah I was thinking of doing that Deoxy but I'll just have to get used it. The inability to build magma workshops is a kick but acceptable.

Wait, no magma buildings? You know how to kill a process right? Ctrl+Alt+Del then onto processes and click Dwarffort.exe and then end process. No need to abandon your fortress!

Yeah I know how to exit DF without it saving. I'm not abandoning it either, I've gotten used to it by now anyways so it's not so much of a bother.
