It'd be awfully nice if filthy dwarves (covered in mud, vomit, blood, ichor, etc) would occasionally visit a water source and clean themselves.  The only good alternative right now is the Wash-o-matic, which can be very difficult to construct properly.

I imagine that this is already planned - it's probably the reason Toady put contaminants in in the first place.

It may also at some point be the reason for the most complicated (and currently pointless) trade good in existence... soap.

Without it you'll never scrub out those stubborn kobold blood stains...

Do dwarves ever bathe on their own provocation?

What kind of shampoo would they use? Conditioner? Anti-dandruff? Deodorant?

Pedicures? Manicures? Mascara?

Soap is a luxury for sissy nobles.  The real dwarvenly way to wash involves excessive scrubbing with coarse sand.

Do they even dry after they get wet?

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

align: Yup. Water coverings and water splashes dry relatively fast, from what I've seen with my wash-o-matic
