Modding Population

What line in what file must be edited to lower the population limit? I find I can't manage more than about 50 dwarves, and my fps usually goes to hell after 100, so I would like to drop the population limit to about 30, how would I do that?

You open \data\init\init.txt and find [POPULATION_CAP:200] and change 200 to whatever you like. I heard it will ignore numbers under 30. :P

It won't ignore numbers under 30, but that doesn't mean you'll end up with 30 dwarves and no more.

The main issue is that is checks to stop spawning immigrant waves, not limiting the number of immigrants in a given wave, so if you have 49 dwarves and a population cap of 50, it'll go ahead and spawn another immigrant wave, however large that's supposed to be.

I've also heard talk of delays of some sort on this, like it'll stop spawning after you've hit the max + one wave, but I haven't experienced this myself.

One wave over the limit is fine, I just have trouble handling ~100 dwarves.
