more common flux
« on: November 19, 2007, 05:01:00 pm »

I've started about 20 fortresses since the new version came out, and not once have I encountered any sort of flux. Lots of everything else, but never one bit of chalk or limestone or anything. Please make flux a bit more available. or allow us to trade for it.

I'm sure I'm just really unlucky in my site selection, but still, being able to trade for it would be great. Better than the junk caravans are bringing now. I don't need a dead duck in a cage or masterpiece armor that won't fit. I need bloody limestone.

The only way to get flux minerals is to look for them in the startup screen. They will show up in the right-hand panel where it lists the layers of stone on the site. Limestone, dolomite, chalk or marble layers are what you want. Limestone and chalk often have patches of magnetite iron ore (those are the ones I've encountered). Not sure about dolomite or marble. If you also look for obsidian or gabbro layers you might find a magma chamber. Good luck finding both.
