Deon, what if there's a simultaneous aboveground and subterranean threat?

This is why I'm planning two different military squads. Surface guys who keep the surface covered with goblin pieces, and then an underground military to fend off any threats from below.
I plan at least 4 squads: 2 military, 1 fortress guard, 1 royal guard. Military should consist mainly of marksdwarves and they will look after open spaces (aboveground, caverns) from fortifications to shoot approaching enemies down while FG and RG will be melee dwarves set to patrol specific areas which should deal with anything which slips through.
