Taking advantage of the weather
« on: March 28, 2007, 12:26:00 pm »

Heres another idea for the old weather system - buckets and barrels left outside should collect rain or snow in them after the appropriate weather incident, which dwarves can drink (immediately for rain and the snow after it melts, though they'd have to be brought inside if the weather was cold.) It would be a good way to get water if one of the maps after the update had no outside or cave river, and if there was an option to tip it up and muddy the ground, we could still farm inside with it.

If each barrel could hold 10 or so drinks (water is more refreshing than alcohol?), I think it would really make a viable substitute. Though obviously, you couldn't use it for cooking.

Hmmmm, you could also use cold weather for distilling. Leave a keg of Longland Ale outside in the cold, peel off the ice and there you have cold-distilled spirits  :)

And leave buckets of water outside during winter for ice for cold drinks.
