How do i World Gen Ewok world?
« on: January 10, 2010, 04:28:37 pm »

What parameters should I set in world gen to create a world mostly forest with lots of trees, plants, and a wet temperate climate with little to no mountain ranges? How would I throw some chasms and bottomless pits as well?

I've had some success but all them are getting rejected.

The easiest way to figure out what to do is to let the worldgen run until it tells you the parameters on which the maps are failing. You can then either exit and adjust that or a related parameter to keep it from rejecting it for that reason, or you could tell it to ignore that parameter (only really an option if the parameter is a non-critical one for your idea of the perfect worldgen).

The main problem is that your world gen parameters are, in addition to being weighted by the indicated numbers, making rejections based on the races that you have in your entity files. Without biomes for at least one civ of each race - and, likely, more - the map is rejected.

I'm having trouble figuring out what effect different options effect what. My goal is to have a world mostly flat with no mountains and no ocean. What parameters should I alter to attain this?

I believe that would be all elevation. I'm not certain but I think oceans are below 100 elevation and mountains are above 300.  So you would probably be able to avoid oceans and mountains completely by setting the minimum and maximum elevations to 101 and 299 you would likely need to put in 0 for minimum edge oceans minimum ocean squares minimum mountain squares, number of peaks and volcanoes, you would also probably have to turn off require playable races, since there would be no mountains for dwarves to spawn in.

A better solution if you still want a small number of oceans and mountains would be using the elevation terrain weighting. Set the middle values to higher numbers and keep the extreme high and lows relatively low.  Doing this would also likely require the above setting of minimum type squares to low values, but in this case you probably wouldn't need to completely 0 it out.  Small numbers would still work.  But there's no tried and true amount, you would have to experiment.  That should cause the majority of the land to fall into those middle values, with a few small patches of mountain or sea.
