Following the dev log, it seems groundhogs will be the next king of beasts. Not lethal on their own, but they attack in groups and have this nasty ability to bite areas they shouldn't be able to reach height-wise. Though the giant blob of vomit sounds fun...

I'm pretty sure an untrained dwarf can handle 10 groundhogs at once

Agreed. Groundhogs need huge numbers to overcome a well trained foe. A single carp can bring a fort to its knees as long as there are no marksdwarves.

But... What happens when they form a civ and work together? Groundhogs distract the marksdwarves while the carp butcher legions of uber-legendary champions.

Oh, and I also made them a hostile civ. I will finish testing them tommorow, since I have yet to get my first UberCarp seige. This is gonna hurt 

Although rather than a groundhog, it more resembles a dragon/carp hybrid... Although with a size 300 tag, the thing would probably be at least 100 meters long.
And it has 1 fat. Which makes its composition .33% fat and 99.66% pure death.

As for Australian creatures, I want Toady to implement dingos as baby snatchers. If a dingo successfully snatches a baby, the parents get a bad thought, "Urist McBabyMaker has been depressed lately. She admired a masterwork screw pump today. She has been annoyed by flies. She has talked to her spouse lately. Dingoes ate her babies."


Edit: Carp caravans should sell primarily trade goods made of dwarven body parts. They should also sell a lot of dwarven leather and bloody steel bolts.

I lived next to an underground river for 3 in-game years, and then suddenly the carp started attacking.  I don't even know why my dwarves were over there in the first place!  Oh well.
