This is so dwarven it's not funny.

Replace stainless steel with deep metal and let it menace with spikes.

It is extremely dwarfish but could only really be used to do personal cleaning not like washing rags or blood off of clothes only healthy good conditioned dwarfes.

It wouldn't have any effect on bacteria either, so would lead to quite high fatality rates in surgery.

Best way to dispose of traders/invaders: drop stainless steel floodgates on them. Result: Perfectly ironed, odor-free clothing, slightly soaked with blood.

Speaking of which - has anyone tried to trade anyone items covered in blood of their species? Selling a pack of merchant robes soaked in human blood should have at least some effect on a human caravan.

While I could see dwarfs doing this, there's just one major flaw.
It doesn't actually do anything to the contaminant itself.
It just masks the scent of it.
