Lag while playing
« on: January 04, 2010, 08:57:24 am »

Holla!
I've allready searched for this topic, but all I found was an unanswered thread.
So, my problem is as follows :
It just lags like hell. Sometimes it runs kind of smooth, but that's quite rare.
For example, if I press a movement key several times, the action gets delayed.(the moving, ofc :P)
And I don't think that it could be a hardware problem since I can even run Oblivion with nearly no problems.^^
Hopefully you are able to help me.
Thanks  :)

Mine sort of slowed down a lot as well. I turned off auto-center and it got a bit better.

I searched the wiki for this "auto-center", but it didn't spit out any results.
What is it?

BTW: I just killed a cyclops  ;D
Now I was asked to kill a dragon <.<
Any tips besides leveling up like hell ?

Strangle it with your turban. Or kill with a sasquatch corpse.

I watched your "Lets play" and found out that the turban isn't allways reliable ;)

Get a higher quality weapon - for example, if you're using a war hammer, upgrade to an ≡Iron maul≡.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Yeah, get 2 shields in one hand, lots of throwing weapons (bolts, preferably) and SNEAK, hide from him a lot, and use trees as cover.  If you fight underground, it's already over, so, just sneak, and attack him only after you've pretty well damaged him with thrown stuff.

Thanks, it's a bit better now.
...
My adventurer just got roasted by the dragon 'cause a stupid giant rat destroyed my cover  :P
I'm creating a new one right now; he'll use whips. I've heard that they're only good against living creatures, so I plan to become a legendary thrower in order to solve this.
Does anyone have experience with this ?

Just find a tile that has some mudstone rocks or sand you can pick up, fill your backpack with it, and throw it out in any direction.

Every time you throw, you'll gain skill, whether you hit anything or even throw at anything at all.  Just toss it!  Legendary in no time.

Thanks mate, but I allready knew this :P
I rather wanted to know if this is going to work out since I don't know which amount of force is going to be applied to not-living (semi-)megabeasts; i.e. Bronze Colossi 'n stuff.
Thanks anyway  :)

Edit: If I get a skill like Throwing up to legendary and further (so 2300 exp. needed to advance), do I get any bonuses besides increases stats? Hopefully Throwing gets a bit more accurate then ...

Edit 2 : Is there a way to increase random ambushes? Would be way more fun :D

Your movement speed will go up I believe, it seems like when you train a skill up a lot, your movement speed increases, but, maybe that's just ambushing, idk.

Leveling up increases you attributes.  The attributes are agility, toughness, and strength.

But leveling up ambushing, which can be done by moving everywhere in neak, lets you move with less of a penalty in stealth mode.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.
