Cultural Quirks
« on: December 25, 2009, 08:17:36 pm »

AS I understand it, eventually the ethics of the various civilizations will be culturally based, rather than racially based. What I suggest is that some individual civs have the value of a certain items or materials vary due to quirks in ethichs, with some being prized far more than any objective value, while others are anathema, like wood currently is for elves. For example, the Aiel in Jordan's Wheel of Time absolutely refuse to so much as touch a sword, while our culture has been led, by good marketing, to place an extreme value on diamonds, even though they're not nearly as rare as most people think.

Man, ninja'd by a potentially inebriated Lord Shonus. I was gonna say to burn it.
