Hiring monkeys to work on DIS part time?
« on: December 23, 2009, 06:19:37 pm »

Okay guys, since I can't find enough time to work on my game 'DISASTERS IN SPPAAACCCCEEEEE', I came up with a plan to hire monkeys to code it for me.

Now, these monkeys take $10 an hour to work, now if I train one good monkey I'll get some good code, but if I train an average of 10 monkeys, I'll get average code but more work done.

What is B12's stance on this?

Train two above average monkeys and blow the rest on crack.

buy 8 average monkeys, spend one monkey's sallery on a gun and the rest on ammo, then use those as "inspiration" to get the average monkey's  to do a pro monkey's work at light speed.  if any slack off give them a FUN pill between their eyes, and I mean DF style FUN

Monkeys don't have thumbs, they MIGHT be able to use the home row on a keyboard, but a sincerely doubt they'll be able to use the spacebar with proficiency.

Or maybe I misunderstand something.

Mokey's also have tails which would hurt after sitting on them for too long, so I believe it was a metaphor for work-lackey.

Work-lackeys don't have souls, so you won't be able to threaten them.

ahh but they do have brains, however small, so the part that screams self-preservation will motivate them a bit.

Their survival instincts long ago died and now serve only to collect dust... Cheeto's dust.

Well Jookia, if you have the money for such an undertaking yes, but lets see.

Say, 2 above average people work for you for 10-15 USD an hour.

after 4 hours of solid code, meaning at max 30 USD of your wallet per hour that comes up to 120 bucks for four hours of coding with 2 people, and that's not much. Over a month this would cost you [if they code 7 out of 24 hours a day] 6,300 USD at max. It's expensive, wich is why if you do hire people your hand will be forced to make people have to buy it most likely, or at least pay for a premium.

$10 per hour to work?! WTF?! Even monkeys get paid better than me. I took a research assistant job with some game making for RM500 a month. That's about $150 a month.

Instead of hiring monkeys, hire a fresh CS graduate from a third world country. Starting pay is like RM1500 if the graduate is very lucky, so they cost about as much as monkeys.

I don't think you're going to get want you want.

Programmer monkeys will produce only one out of three things:
1. Donkey Kong
2. The Complete Works of William Shakespear
3. A Giant ASCII Bannana

But good luck anyway. :)
