You haven't lived until you've had to bail out the bottom floor of your fortress because your dwarves forgot to pull a lever to stop the waterflow up from the cistern.

No, it's where your tombs are. The poor folk get put much higher, closer to the noise from the workshops.

Funny, that's usually where my rich nobility ends up.

You haven't lived until you pull the lever that should shut off youre botched attempt at redirecting a underground river and stop the flood in the farming/kitchen/still area but instead floods the controlroom, the booze and food piles, the dining hall and redirects the river to flow straigth through the mainfloor of youre fortress, sealing nearly every dwarf into theyre rooms or various workshops except for a hunter, the woodcutter and two fisherdwarfs.

two fisherdwarfs.

Unless unskilled, I see no reason why there'd be TWO.

The thing that confuses me about dorfs is this. Dorf 1 dies in an avalance or somesuch. Dorf 2 is friends with dorf 3 and dorf 1. Dorf 2 berserks because of his friends death and kills dorf 3. also a friend. W. T. F.
Clearly you've never been drunk.

I can one-up that: I had a desert fort near a river I got sick of, so I flooded it from the highest floor on down.  It was amusing to watch as the lower floors filled up and the Dorfs sleeping down there realized their predicament.  A few tried to escape, only to find themselves swimming in fast-moving water, and they quickly sought refuge in someone else's room instead of trying to head upstairs.  Needless to say, 80% of that fort died of either drowning or starvation.  And it was gloriously Fun.
