If the battery doesn't need to last, then you can probably pick out some of the most chemically reactive cathodes, anodes, and electrolytes possible.

I wonder if  raw sodium-ammonia-copper would work?(raw sodium is far too dangerous to handle for a high-school project.)

Why would you want to try that? The sodium will probably react imediatly with any water present, and failing that, with the amonia itself. Even if you'd be able to split the half-reactions so you can make a batery, you'd get a short burst of several amps and then nothing (well, possibly hydrogen gas)
Because it's fun to make batteries that burn explosively, duh.
I've also forgotten alot of chemistry, that ammonia usually contains water and that the nitrogen in ammonia is about as reactive as oxygen in water, and easier to free. NH3 or H2O burns just fine.

I'm trying to remember the diffrence between a cathode and an anode.
Sodium might be a bit too enthusiastic about "donation" of it's electron.

Basically, this is what you need.

The yellow lines are your leads, the red is your dielectric, and the green are your plates. The idea is that an electric field builds up between the plates, and a few factors [stated below] effect its strength.

The greatest amount of farads you can cram into it would be from maximizing these factors.

*extremely wide plates
*extremely close-together plates.
*Using a powerful dielectric. (Mineral oil is a cheap and effective one, and ceramics work too.)

Wouldn't that amount to a capacitor, instead of a batery? And capacitors arn't quite as usefull as bateries for prolonged energy consumption since they don't contain much coulombs, especialy not those you can make yourself for a few bucks.

Yes, it is a capacitor.

It's good for having more power for a shorter time, which [I think] is what Strife wanted.

You'll need some conductive plates, by the way. Forgot to mention that.

Still looking for help.
It would only need to power a small motor (2 volts) for a few minutes.
