I'll explain.  Toady taught at Texas A&M, which stands for "Agricultural and Mining" university.  This is a school that's most famous three things - ripoffs of "blond jokes", a violent love of the color maroon, and how like clockwork each year, a dozen students die when their thousand-tree Homecoming bonfire collapses on them.
