Mithra Min

Meaning: Mithra = "Friend" Min = "Clever"

Background and abilities: Mithra Min is Hulderic's righthand man and personal advisor. He makes it a point to be a learned and educated person, and to remain as up-to-date on events as the medieval technology will allow. He accompanies Hulderic and follows his orders. While Mithra doesn't accompany Hulderic into battle, he is exceptionally talented with a rapier and is often praised by Hulderic for being the 'dirtiest fighter he's ever seen'.

Appearance: Very well maintained clothes and hair. Is nourished and calm looking. Has black hair, and carries a rapier.

Tropes used: Can't remember any, and I don't have enough time to look for some.

Tristis Bihots

Meaning: Tristis = "Sad" Bihots = "Heart"

Background: Tristis is a loyal subordinate of Hulderic and is submitted to him completely. Tristis though, is especially talented in sneaking and subterfuge, and will happily engage in whatever underhanded activities. While subservient to Hulderic, Tristis' motivation for joining him in the first place is feeling that his life is worthless, and that risking his life recklessly under Hulderic is better than dying as a obscure peasant.

Appearance: Lean, thin, and tall. Wears white clothes and has dark hair.

Tropes used: Can't remember off the top of my head. Not enough time to look them up.

Sorry if this is repetitive, but the entire story is more like a vaguely told tale in my head, and setting the roles of all the characters helps me to make it more concrete and sort out the ambiguities that I haven't decided on yet.

Jabez Farvardin

Meaning: Jabez = "Sorrow" Farvardin = "Guardian"

Background and abilities: Jabir is the 10th generation Mark holder of Water. Very intelligent and kind, Jabir uses his abilities in strategic non-militaristic ways whenever possible. He's devoted his life to helping others, though the reason is not exactly clear. While a good samaritan, he's extremely protective of his weaker, emotionally fragile brother, Jabir, who accompanies him everywhere. He waits to go into the tower and try to procure as much treasure while causing minimal harm, so as to help the impoverished in his home Kingdom of Silvanus. While not a warrior, he still has a small, dedicated troupe of warriors, of which Mael is his most devoted and second in command. He owns his sacred artifact, Tirta (meaning: Holy Water), a cloak that allows him easy command over water.

Appearance: middle-sized, red haired, smooth skinned, not muscular, and his cloak, Tirta, is  blue with a small tint of green.

Jabir Farvardin

Meaning: Jabir = "comforter" Farvardin = "Guardian"

background and abilities: Jabir is Jabez's younger half-brother. He lacks any of the talent, ability, or training that his brother has, but is sheltered by him, and relies on him for protection. Has a pet cat named Rada (meaning: Care, Joy) that he carries with him everywhere and feeds. Is generally extremely quiet and introspective, and only feels comfortable talking with his brother.

Appearance: shorter than his brother, and generally looks like him, save for a few features changed here and there.

Alright, one more before I head back up to my room. This is taking forever, so maybe I'll just start writing the story in a new thread when I have the time.

Mael

Meaning: Mael = "devotee"

Background: Mael, in the past, was big dumb child that was abandoned by his parents to be a slave. Jabez, encountering the cruel lord that owned him, bought Mael and told him he was free. Instead of leaving, Mael pledged his eternal allegiance to Jabez and has since grown into an excellent axe warrior and has been deemed his second-in-command. Mael feels that serving under Jabez is the single greatest honor of his life, and is by far the most loyal of his troupe. Not very intelligent, but extremely strong and tough.

Appearance: Huge, easily the tallest and largest character in the story. All muscle. Wears a large, thick haubark, and has proficiency with both battle axes and pollaxes, of which he carries both.
