Legendary Dining Rooms of History
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:59:41 am »

On a lark, I looked up "Legendary Dining Room" on google.
I didn't really expect to find anything quite like what I ran across:

Emperor Nero had a Legendary Dining Room. It rotated, "imitating the celestial movements". After that, well, I think we need better mechanical movement. I want an orrery/rotating dining room.

(I know this has horrible horrible implications for re-tooling the display system, in the same way ships do. I'm not expecting this to happen really, just wishing.)
----

Does anyone else out there know of famous "legendary" dining rooms?

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

If dwarves made it, it would probably double as a killing machine, by purpose or accident,

Magma. Don't forget the magma.

Thief:"Quiet kitty, Qui-"
Cat:"THIEF! Protect the hoard from the skulking filth!"
The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.
