As an addendum to what I've said, some bands of radio waves (such as at least some in the amateur range in the US) will be bent/reflected/refracted/whatever by layers of the atmosphere, so they can reach surprisingly far around the world.

However, this doesn't mean everywhere, or that it's incredibly convenient to do so, or that it works particularly well.
