Is it possible to use dwarf bones for bone bolts or other bone crafts? I think i read in another thread that some modding might be necessary in the raws, but I'd just like to double check.

In the meantime you could try getting this merged with the "Holy Crap That's Evil..." thread.

What would you do if seven small, beared men marched into your home and started to dig out a city in your basement?

I think the only way is use dwarf bones for anything other than stuffing coffins is to play as elves, humans, or goblins.

I've had some success by playing with the entity raws.  Change the ethics of dwarves to "ACCEPTABLE" for entries like "MAKE_TROPHY_SAME_RACE" AND "MAKE_TROPHY_SAPIENT".  Some of my forts have a strict waste-not-want-not policy, although typically it's more a policy of butchering fallen and captured goblins for their meat, fat, skin and bones than our own fallen comrades.

However, even if you enabled "EAT_SAPIENT_OTHER" and "EAT_SAPIENT_KILL", you probably couldn't make your dwarves manually butcher each other--but you can go for their bones after they've decayed.

Ethics.

Of course, you can toy with a surprising amount. I've decided that I want to make goblins butcherable at the very least, and dwarf bones to be used as trophies.

I mean, I already have masterwork elf bone and kobold bone and goblin bone armour pieces.

The *large serrated steel disk* strikes the Raven in the head, tearing apart the muscle, shattering the skull, and tearing apart the brain!
A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.
