Dwarves won't place plump helmets into barrels.

As the thread title describes,

I plant plump helmets. They grow. Dwarves come and put them onto a seperate tile on the food stockpile, not into a barrel. My carpenters workshop is full of empty barrels. The plump helmets sit there for a while then rot, because they're not being placed into barrels.

Anybody know why my Dwarves won't put the plump helmets into barrels?

Do you have the stockpile set to accept no barrels?

'q' - then e/r/E/R are the controls for that.

If they're actually in the food stockpile, they shouldn't rot. Food in stockpiles is immune to rot. They might get chewed on by vermin a bit, but in my experience it takes a long time for a plant to get so chewed that it becomes unusable.
