Play some other games that you've never played before, it always works for me.
When I'm playing a game, I usually think to myself 'I could build in this architectural style in DF too!' which makes for a lot of Fun ideas.

The cold turkey approach is horrible, I told myself at the start of the year not to play DF until the next release... Its making me go insane!
