Rigth now, the Download from the first post has MY WHOLE ENTIRE HUMAN DF FILE, so nothing should be going wrong. I've updated it, before you put up your first edit.

I'm up and running.  (Note for future users, you'll have to abandon the fortress in the copy of region 3 to get the right world.)

geez, fear of the unknown means *no* stone, given the 3 soil layers and the starting z-level... ouch.  Screw that.

I'll be documenting my fortress here: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/User:Squirrelloid/Nodxusta_Lide_Zuden

I don't know what it is about the dl, but Visual Fortress gives nothing but a garbled mess, and 3dwarf can't even identify it as a DF process.  I guess I won't have 3D images of my town...

For future reference, the full raws folder + the save folder should be sufficient for anyone to modify a new DF install into the appropriate modded DF to run the game, plus the specific save to play on.

I did that so i could use 3dwarf since visual fortress continues to barf.  Strangely, orcs don't show up on my civ screen though, but the save loads fine and the raws are there...?  (Nevermind, duh, they haven't attacked me yet, so of course they don't show up!)

Hmm... no orcses by the almost the end of winter in year 2... Where are my orcses?  my legendary champions need some real practice!

Also, i'm at 64 people and my expedition leader hasn't been promoted to mayor yet.  Needless to say, this is weird...

Maybe I should redo this challenge? My files are not corrupt, and with the generation info it wouldn't be hard. If I did, it would be a new thread.

Yay, orcses!  Killed the caravan they appeared right behind, however...

Wait, is this restarting?  I'm 2.5 years in!

Hmm.. I'm about to lose a mood to a need for some flavor of silk cloth.  I'll note that, since there is no dwarf caravan, silk cloth is impossible to get in this scenario... one might think the way playing as humans was modded into this game wasn't thought through very well.

(Failing a mood because you couldn't possibly complete it isn't fair, especially since it'll impact towns to a different degree depending on how many moods they fail and how skilled the person failing the moods was - in this case its only one mood, but its a fairly useful personage i stand to lose).

The humans also sent 2 diplomats until i got one killed off, presumably because however this is modded is pretty hackish.  (Ie, the dwarf liaison showed up as a second human diplomat....).

And choosing a 6x6 embark with a waterfall is murder on my FPS.  I'm down in the 20s for FPS, and its only year 3...

hah...

Sorry to mock your predicament, but you're the only one struggling on with this ridiculous map/folder.

Just making humans playable and not trying to hack them into the main civ is the proper way to play a human mod. Will do it this weekend.
