Strange mood question
« on: November 08, 2009, 04:26:26 pm »

Alright, I'm new to the game and I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this, or what. I've gotten my first fortress to the second year without any real incidents, and I've had three artifacts made before. One of my stoneworkers became possessed and is now working on an artifact, that is understood. However... he doesn't have all the supplies he needs (or so I assume) and when I 'q' the workshop, I get the message "Urist McEngraver keeps muttering Enseb Ogred...". I cuts off there. Am I missing something here? Is this an interface issue? Or am I just really bad at this?

Gameplay Questions typically go in DF Gameplay Questions.

Is the workshop listing what materials he wants?

In the words of countless infomercial hosts: That means it's working!
He's gotten everything he needs and is working away. Check the previous announcements (press a, in case you didn't know); one should see it says something like "Urist McStrangemood has begun a mysterious construction!"

Even if you have dwarves decked out in cotton candy they will still have fun with clowns.

Right. That announcement was there. So my last question was valid... I am really bad at this!

That's the name of the artifact. Secretive dwarfs mutter it when they're building it, which is why I believe Toady has a sense of irony.

No, posessed dwarves mutter it, not secretive ones.

This is the case. Secretive ones work furtively and scribble what they want on a piece of elf skin parchment or something.

Edit: Hey, and I'm wrong.

Yeah, just leave your dwarf be. You'll have a brand new artifact left pig tail sock in no time.

Fey dwarves work furiously.
Secretive dwarves work secretively.
Possessed dwarves mutter the name of the artifact they are about to create.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
