Ad Infinitum
Neither of them believe in love, yet in that distant café as they enter and meet for the first time, they smile and greet each other as old friends. To an onlooker who didn't know the truth, this is what they would seem. But in this distant place, an age old tale comes to an end and a new legend begins as their eyes lock, and they smile.
Such an innocent thing, to smile, yet the effect it can have, the damage it can deal when broken and the wounds it can heal when cast at the right moments, for something so small to wield such power is truly magnificent. Indeed, the little treasures are always the grandest. Their pasts are lost in remembrance, as old hatreds and grudges return for brief glimpses only to fade into the meaningless abyss of that which is long forgiven forgotten by history and fate.
They walk to greet, and extend hands to shake, but one reaches beyond and soon an embrace is formed. Not one patron raises their head or eyebrow, for nothing in this scene is out of place, it is all as perfect as it will always remain in their memories, protected from the flow of clocks by their resolve.
It may be true that these two do not believe in love, but this is because it transcends their beliefs, their mortal coils. This is an age old tale that has been repeating itself and born anew since time immemorial between those condemned to be separated and bound to meet.
These two have no need to believe in love, their very existence proves love, through this life, and the next, and the next, for all eternity.
