First successfull fortresses
« on: October 24, 2009, 12:31:41 am »

Well, i've finally gotten the hang of DF. I've decided to make a wee little fortress in the side of a mountain, not trading anything to the traders, just mellow and only increasing population with born babys. I've already got a well, farm, dining room, stockpile area, workshop area, and bedrooms up. As well as a channel system between the pools to make up for the lack of the massive river, so if one dries up another one can drop water into it, so i don't think i should have to worry about water much, since i welled the water underground into my den and built the well above that. Anyway it looks good so far, i just have to smooth+engrave the essentials and let it play out.

Awesome. Glad to hear it. How many dwarves do you have now? Why no trading?
