Hey everybody, I found this cool looking site which I thought others might be interested in.

There is some limestone with at least one or two magnetite nodes, I think I spotted bauxite, and there are a whole bunch of other ores. Its not exactly rich, but it does have alot of variety. Theres two areas that have three (yes I said THREE, and right next to mountains at that) soil layers, the jungle one has sand as its bottom soil layer, there is basalt, felsite, granite (in the mountain biome), andesite, quartzite, diorite, and some gabbro.

As for the features, the brook literally carved a grotto into the mountain and has a small waterfall on the eastern part of the site. In fact, the dropped part of the brook actually makes it go deeper than 15 levels when you're at 'ground level' where the brook drops down. There is a small chasm, a pit, the end of one of the longest and most sinuous cave rivers I've seen, and last but not least, a magma pipe. The cave river has lots of *men to deal with. Oh yea, most of the place is Untamed Wilderness, so plenty of meat. :)

Also, the embark area shows that there is suppoused to be an UG pool, but in using reveal and Visual Fortress, there is no sign that it even existed, not even a round piece missing. Its a more extreme version of the dissapearing pool bug.

I don't think there is a GCS, but it's possible for one to show up without the telltale GCS web clusters, is it?

It's not extreme or even a dwarf heaven, but I thought it was cool.

Heres a shot from VF:

Worldgen info, I am using Maydays graphics pack, release 18 I think, the D11 version:

No HFS, but there is a giant eagle though.

Real interesting map, thank you for the parameters.

I know there isn't any HFS, the HFS is the cluster of light blue bubbles closer to the center of the local area.

You're welcome though :)

That's an amazing underground river.  The chasm is two-headed, so to speak.  With my mods (40d plus four extra plants and the smelter reaction which makes all stones economic) I don't get any flux or bauxite, but there is gobs of gold ...

*in the background, seven little voices start singing "Gold Gold Gold Gold"*

... "Alright guys, knock it off!  You've got digging to do."

I see Cave Spider silk in the pit, in mine, in two places.

It's a bit more combatative that I am used to, but I think I will try it.  The dismebark put me down not far from the magma pipe.  The fire imps look as if they are contained by a caldara, but stuff is already pouring out of the exposed head of the chasm so I guess we will run south-east and hope we can empty the wagon without casualties.

Thanks for sharing!   :)

Yea, I have a magma man and a fire man in my game though, but like you said, the pipe is contained and they can't get out.

The Fire man may still be able to fire at anything or anybody peeking over the edge though.

and you're welcome :)

Will those worldgen specs work if I'm not using Mayday?

Yea they should, but the layers may be different. Its a well known issue that mods will change what rocks are actually on the site from what person who found it has.

If you absolutely want it to be the same as I found it, then the answer is yes. Just how the layers will change is unpredictable, so they may or may not change.

I got some serious lag from this. Just embarked with about 50 FPS. Darn, I really wanted that waterfall, too.  :(

Yes, I have a lot of lag also.  Maybe it's all the underground river segments and waterfalls?

I embarked with about 70ish FPS, its now around 50, which is actually 'normal' FPS for me. I did boost it up a bit by partially damming the top of the brook waterfall while trying to stem the flow and recover a corpse and some stuff at the bottom. I ended up making my Mason/Broker fall and injure himself pretty good. He is resting off a yellow upper body and a light grey brain wound, but he'll live.
