Plant Fiber Cloth?
« on: October 21, 2009, 08:33:24 pm »

Sorry to keep asking these questions.

A dwarf went into a strange mood. He wants both rough gems and plant fiber cloth.

I have no idea on how to get plant fiber cloth.

Besides trading for it, pig tail and rope reed plants can be made into thread by a thresher at a farmer's workshop. Thread is then made into cloth by a weaver at a loom.

You may be able to collect rope reed by having a herbalist collect wild plants.

It's a good idea to keep a little of "everything" on hand, for just such situations.  Various bars of metal, gems large and small, different cloth, shells, bones, wood... nothing too esoteric, just the basics.

I'd go with the plant gathering - unless a caravan is coming soon (and hopefully it's elven) it's your best shot.

If you're going to try finding rope reed via herbalism, focus only on shrubs within 2 tiles of a river or murky pool, since that seems to be the definition of a [WET] area.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
