The proposal that immortality might be a possibility scared me.

The fact that as a 17 year old male in a western industrialized country, I have another 60-65 years to live, and judging by the most pessimistic estimates of the state of the world, I may well live to see civilization collapse.
Goddammit.

Don't listen to doomsayers.  They're morons who just pull numbers out of their asses to scare people, to be frank.

The fact that I'm going to be 18 in less than a month.
And the fact that war is gradually creeping closer and closer to the U.S.
I'd really hate to be drafted, that would kind of just... ruin my life plans.

No drafts in US unless it's a matter of national security and the regular (non-drafted) military is running low.  At least that's what I learned in school.  I don't see either of those happening.

when my goverment tells me, with a straight face, that 10 years of taxes + new VAT tax + increased payroll taxes = budget neutral bill that only covers 7.5 years of payouts.........

Health care isn't going to be controlled though.  Don't the healthcare reforms just introduce a set of means tested centers that provide healthcare for those who can't afford insurance?

 Doesn't work, although I'm sure there have been weirder versions of that ad. like dressing up some asian kid to look like a generic anime schoolgirl and sticking it on one of those ads...

 Damn, now i want to make a parody set of those ads involving costplayers and the characters they costplay.
