[req] Mark a unit for attacking
« on: December 10, 2007, 10:02:00 am »

I would really like to be able to mark a unit for death, specifically things like raccoons and wolves and other nuisance wildlife.

You should be able to go into the squads view, lock onto a squad, then move the cursor over a unit and have a "press k to mark this creature for death" or something similar.  Then the squad should hunt it down and kill it.

As it stands now, I'm getting sick of stationing my squad near the creature only to have to move somewhere else in the time it takes the squad to get there.  You can spend ages trying to second guess where it's going to move to so you can head it off.  I just want to be able to tell my dwarves to kill it.

This could be highly useful, especially for hunting down those blasted Goblin thieves who pop up all over the place.

yes, after having screens full of interruptions by a wolf pack near a construction site, or rhesus monkeys walking into the fort and frightening workers, it would be nice to just assign a squad to 'chase X' and go about your business, rather than having to devote your attention to micromanaging the squad into the chasing the things around until they die.

I second that, too.

Would be nice if you could mark units either for your hunters (in case of wildlife) or for your army to target. Then again, I'd also love to send my hunter after some fire imps ...

I have a feeling this will happen as a part of the army arc.

If this is implemented, I also want the ability to mark your own dwarves the same way, so the military could eliminate any "trouble makers".
