Ran into a problem with a Human Fortress...
« on: October 12, 2009, 04:40:19 pm »

I decided to try playing the game as humans for the first time last night and ran into an odd problem- my woodcutters and miners would drop their axes/picks whenever they did a different non-hauling job. Since "Pickup Equipment" has a high priority, this would result in them doing a dance on a couple of tiles, constantly picking up and dropping their weapons.

Anyone else run into this?  ???

Maybe their tools are two-handed?

I honestly have no idea. Forget that dumb suggestion.

Are the woodcutters using Battle Axes or Great Axes?

Ironblood didn't use an axe because he needed it. He used it to be kind. And right now he wasn't being kind.

Go to your military screen and make everyone wield with two hands.

That doesn't explain the picks though. Did you mod in bigger picks? Or smaller humans?

Human civ embarking defaults to iron battle axes.
And where is this "two-handing" option on the military screen? The "#:2" is just to tell your dwarves to carry a backup weapon, yes?

In the case of on-handed weapons, yes. In the case of two-handed weapons, it simply allows them to use them.

It's less a 'number of weapons' and more a 'number of hands occupied by weapons'
