Outpost Liason Oddity
« on: October 13, 2009, 09:33:22 am »

This is the first autumn in a new fort I just started this morning. The trading almost didn't get done until I decided to appoint someone else as the broker. My expedition leader is just hanging out in the meeting zone I designated and drinking. A lot. I'm not sure they're using up the drink stocks, but they've been drinking more-or-less constantly since Autumn came. As of this posting, the merchants finally left.

The whole time, the local civilization's outpost liaison is just staring at my poor expedition leader. The liaison is legendary, too. So you know that he's extremely irritated. However, my leader seems content to be drinking what I have to assume is the world's most epic mug of Dwarven Ale. How else could you account for them being in a "Drinking" job for nearly a full season?

Before anyone asks, yes, I've disabled all other jobs for this Dwarf. They're just not too intent on really doing anything.

Try activating the dwarf and then deactivating him? Does that cancel Drink jobs?

Worst case, you might have to knock him around with a cave-in.

Try forbidding the barrel and alcohol he's drinking from, too. I don't think it will work, but it's something to try.

If your leader is above ground, engineer a cave-in to knock him out with dust, as suggested above.

If your leader is below ground, it might be slightly more convenient to dig a ramp under him. No guarantees it will do anything, though.
