Rewarding a stone crafter?
« on: October 11, 2009, 11:58:44 pm »

So my stone crafter is pleasing me verrry much.  He's set to continuously create rock crafts, and every few minutes or so it seems he creates a legendary craft.

How should I reward this great dude?  ;D I was thinking of creating some sort of room with engravings and statues just for him, but I get the feeling that the other dwarves would murder him in his sleep.

For dwarves that I develop a fondness for, I usually check their personalities for their likes, and try to design them a room based around that.  After taming a Hydra, my Dungeon Master, who liked copper, was gifted with a copper plated room, with everything, sans bed, made of copper.

Alternatively, put a statue in their room and designate it a statue garden for awhile.  Their room will be party central in no time.  Just be sure to undesignate it at some point.

Or assign two war dogs to be the dwarf's protectors.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Yeah, just give him a nice room. Dwarves don't get jealous (except nobles if their room sucks and a commoner has a nicer one).

You could designate small stockpiles for only his favorite type of food/booze, with a small dining room, full of his favorite things, very near his workplace (so it's the nearest table when he goes to when he breaks to eat/drink)

If you assign him war dogs, they become pets, even if he wouldn't normally adopt dogs, and he'll get an unhappy thought if/when they die.

Make him a statue of his favourite material, or engrave his room.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Give him a burial chamber of his own. With sarcophagus, statue and door all made out of platinum. That's what I did to my legendary stonecrafter who held up the export industry of my fortress all on his own with his stonecrafts.
