Well, I have got the awesomeness all paid for.....

I got the computer above and decided not to get geek squad protection at the moment.

It is 64 bit. Awesometastic. Hopefully, this thing will last me a long time (seeing as it cost a bit...).

Anything that I should know?

Will running a quad core effect my ability to play dwarf fortress?

Yes you should've posted the GHz/Core. Else that quad core isn't helping much in DF terms, maybe next version though.

I would say find it outside of best buy if you can. Best buy is total crap and they overcharge.

The other thing is that building a PC is pretty easy with a little effort. Unless you need to mobility, you can get a lot more out of a desktop per dollar than a laptop. IMO Desktops last a lot longer than laptops do, and are easier to fix or upgrade, and at cheaper costs. But that's all irrelevant if you need the mobility a laptop offers.

Eventually I'm going to buy a net book to compliment my desktop, the total price being about what you are paying for a powerful laptop.

I compared prices with dell and one or two other retailers.

They had nothing comparable.

I do need the mobility because of class and the ability to take notes.
Furthermore, it's a tool of the trade for me; it would be even moreso if I could print on the fly as well. *shrugs*

Legal documents hot off the press are always fun. Screw something up with a minor typo? The Client is the 2nd party of the 3rd part instead of the 2nd party of the 2nd part? No problem, fix and print right in the courthouse. (I can dream can't I).

Though I suppose it's entirely true that mobility vs. modularity is the debate.
