King with no preferences?
« on: October 11, 2009, 05:42:11 am »

I just got a HFS king who moved in recently. He's an adept comedian with over 10 kids lol. Anyway, he has no green text in his profile - meaning no preferences and stuff. Is this normal? I usually like to give my nobels stiff they like.

The fact that he has no preferences and hence does not make mandates makes him one of the more welcome nobles in the game. Oh sure, if you don't satisfy his requirements he will go insane, but all he hurts is himself.

Unless he pulls a Sankis and decides to beat someone to death while on fire. But berserk kings are rare.

By HFS king, he means a king who has turned up not for the normal reasons, but because he discovered HFS.

The adamant king is a slight variation of the hfs king, the adamant king shows up when you find adamantine ore, the hfs king is considered an adamant king because all hfs* contain adamant.

Kings, their consorts, and Advisors apparently never have preferences because they were created during worldgen - the Advisor seems to always be your outpost liaison, at least if he's still alive (what happens if the liaison is already dead? do you get a randomly generated advisor, or do you not get one at all?).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
