You mean a bottomless pit?

No, not really.

Chasms that are one tile long on the embark screen will show up as bottomless pits, even.

You might get a slightly different mix of creatures between the two, but that's random, I think.

The only difference between chasms and bottomless pits is their shape and size - any creature that shows up in one is equally likely to show up in another, as the biomes is simply SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM.
