Greetings. I've started a PBEM (Play By Email) game with some cool guys, and I want to make a show out of it.

I hope it will be interesting for someone to watch my progress (and i will be able to show this PBEM to participants if someone thinks I am cheating or something).

So here we are. Fall From Heaven 2 is an awesome fantasy mod for Civilization 4. We play Orbis, which is mod of the mod and adds a ton of features and things.

I am Kandros Fir of Khazad, a greedy dwarven king. Our civilization has awesome ability in production line, and also we are happy/revolting based on the amount of gold we amassed (so you cannot play normally with 0 or low gold in your coffer, you have to hoard some for your dwarves to be happy). While it's a good thing when we have a lot of gold, we cannot use mages and different trickery like that. Ah, we don't need that cheating.

My starting position. I wasted settler's turns to look around. I cannot expand east due to all the snow, but the location is rich with resources. It's pretty awesome actually, so now I will think where to settle...

Also I've razed a barrow of undead and found a Great Scientist trapped inside... It's an awesome event, especially for the first turn...

P.S. I think I will divide these resources between two cities. I will build one on the northern spices, and second 1 tile to the west from the cow. This way I will cover most resources, and the capital will get most of them and a lot of place for farms.

Civilization: Khazad.
Stout dwarves. Unable to use advanced magic (have adepts only) but their adepts can repair catapults and other machinery. Also have awesome mines and overall production. Totally depend on the amount of the hoarded gold. The more you have, the happier/more productive is the nation.

P.S. Also we have double movement on hills and can walk on mountains while other weak races have to train hard to get such ability (others require Guerilla I, Guerilla II, Mountaineer promotions; but it's free for us).

Leader: Kandros Fir
- Aggressive (free Combat I promotions to unit, it gives them +20% combat strength)
- Financial (+1 commerce on a tile where at least 2 commerce are generated; awesome for hoarding money)

Any details about the game?
House rules, game rules, restrictions and such?
Also I don't know what those purple/blue flowers are but I suggest one south of the great scientist.

If I settle 1 south of great scientist, I don't get gold and block a space for 2nd city. If I settle as I said, a gold (which is 10 commerce with mine, actually 11 because we have Financial trait) and an academy from Great Scientist make a big research boost for the whole game.

To get gold I need to research mining, and I think it's the first thing I do.

Those "flowers" are Flax. +1 food, +1 production with farm (+ food from farm) so it's a nice potential for growth and some minor boost to production.

The rules are "No opening of major lairs or feature before turn 50", everything else is defined by settings.

P.S. I may go for agriculture first though, because those 2 farms would mean a much faster 2nd city.

Forget everything else and shoot for the Runes!
Anyway, does this Orbis thing make starting spaces more resource-abundant, or are you just this lucky.

This mapscript makes some really rich valleys. But I am really lucky, other guys have 3-4 resources max in their BFC.

I hope he moves 1 tile east, otherwise he will really lack production with all this water. He is Palapatine civilization, something between Roman, medieval europe and with some slavic flavor (in mystical creatures, not common units).

Sure, but we need 2-3 economical techs first, and maybe rush Construction (because it gives free Great Engineer) for some wonder or a settled engineer (or even for bulbing Runes).

Ooh looks cool, I've wanted to see Orbis in action. Looks like you've got a nice starting location too. I vote for rushing Construction like you mentioned. Gotta love free great people!

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Turn 3 here, I will post a screenshot soon. Nothing to look at yet :). PBEM civ games start very slowly.

I let my warriors to go too far from the capital, so I am planning to bring them back now.
There're no monster lairs in vicinity, but it would be stupid to lose a capital to a random goblin or lizardman.

I was lucky to get Ancient Chants tech from a hut, so it's a step towards Mysticism which would mean an awesome God-King civic in future.

Construction is a bit off, I have to research Pottery and Wheel to go there, but still we already have Masonry so it should be easier than for other nations.

As you see, we have 100 with something gold now (2 times gold from huts), so next turn our treasury should change from (low) to (normal), removing that unhappy face. After I get mining I will work to accumulate some wealth to get boosts from our treasury.

Meanwhile, it's turn 4. So the current goal is to get that worker and then build a warrior, and then to grow a capital to size 2. Quite a long run, considering the pace of the PBEM game.

Scout will continue to explore the west.

P.S. If you wonder about resources, we have Gold (+1 happiness) from our Palace, and also it gives us two types of mana (law and earth).
If you do not count the spells avaliable from these mana types (I am not going to get adepts anytime soon), they are still nice. Law mana reduces maintance by 5% and earth mana increases chances to discover new resources in mines and quarries.
